US congress finally gives the okay for musicians traveling with guitars.http://www2.gibson.com/News-Lifestyle/News/en-us/Congress-Gives-OK-to-Travel-with-Guitars.aspx
The Lacey Act designed to stop the use of endangered or illegally gotten timber was unfortunately a very blunt tool. When a musician traveled with their instrument they had to fill out a form stating the origin of all the materials used on their guitar, violin etc. I’ve heard horror stories of instruments being confiscated because a pearl dot was thought to be white abalone or a headstock veneer was Brazilian rosewood. Hopefully this amendment will make it safer to travel with our guitars.
