I'll be displaying guitars at the Sydney Guitar Show, Saturday the 8th and Sunday the 9th of March 2026
I'll be curating an exhibition that showcases a remarkable journey through nearly two centuries of guitar craftsmanship—featuring some of the oldest and rarest guitars currently in Australia.
Among the highlights is an exceptionally rare French guitar by Larousse, dating from circa 1825, offering audiences a glimpse into early 19th-century European luthiery. The display also includes an instrument crafted by the celebrated Italian violin-making dynasty Guadagnini, representing the enduring influence of one of the most revered names in classical string instrument history.
Extending the story into the modern era, the exhibition features contemporary masterpieces such as concert classical guitars by legendary Australian luthier Greg Smallman, valued at up to $36,000. These instruments exemplify the pinnacle of present-day acoustic design and performance innovation.
“This display is about celebrating the guitar’s rich cultural and musical heritage,” said Rick Falkiner. “From historic European instruments to world-class modern Australian craftsmanship, visitors will be able to see—and truly appreciate—the evolution of the classical guitar across generations.”
